As promised to you and to me, I have begun my Alaska Travel Journal. I actually got 3 pages done! Nothing exciting, but my motto has always been: "Done is better than perfect!" Of course I've always told my boys that if they didn't do a job well, they might as well not have done it at all--I think my journal so far is in one of those two statements.
I actually wanted to start this journal on the cruise ship, but I kept putting it off because I wanted it to be perfect--always the excuse--"if only I could draw better," seems to keep getting in the way. I need to give myself grace to know that I can only deliver with the skills I currently have, and know that I am getting better, and that I just need to give myself more time. Maybe I need to take more time too!
Life seems to get in the way of this dream of mine--I almost didn't get to the journal at all because the printer decided to die on me and I had to spend 2 hours trying to fix it before I ended up back at Best Buy to exchange it. Then back home to install the new printer. Tomorrow another page to the journal!
The journal page was created using soft pastels--messy medium, but quick and fun.
